Alexandra Taylor

My name is Alexandra Taylor, but most just call me Allie. I am an aspiring English teacher attending the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Reading is my passion. Growing up in a small town, books offered me the opportunity to learn about people and cultures of our world I would have never experienced on my own. This is why I am always on the lookout for multicultural books I can include in my own classroom. While they do teach students about things like cultural foods or other traditions, they also offer us so much more. Not only can they teach us about the differences between humans, but they also show us that we are often more similar than we previously thought. They highlight the most beautiful aspects of humanity and thus teach our students love and compassion for everyone no matter how different they may be from us. I strive to always integrate multiculturalism in my classroom and pass these ideas on to the students I am privileged to teach.
